Retirement is your opportunity to become the very best version of yourself! That's Not Going To Happen By Staying Home.

Nobody likes an Agatha Christie's "Poirot" murder mystery more than I do. However, staying home and watching episode after episode will not produce the retirement life you hoped for... unless you want to become a super sleuth (I've thought about that). Don't get me wrong—I am retired, and that means some days I have lunch on the Barbie, followed by a power nap while watching a "Who Done It." But if we are not careful, staying home with less interaction with family and friends can become the norm. And that is unhealthy physically, mentally, and emotionally.

We had a fun and crazy busy weekend. We started at 10 O'clock Saturday morning with our LAF (Life After Fifty) group taking a 4-mile hike to Indian Seat, followed by a picnic lunch. We went home for a quick change of clothes and took off for a two-hour drive to Chattanooga, where we had dinner and a fun evening of nightlife on the river with the kids. All of us spent the night there, got up the next morning, and spent the day watching Layla's (granddaughter) dance competition. My goodness...you have to see her pic below!

It gets even better. Driving two hours back home on Sunday, we found two of our best friends from PA waiting for us. We had an amazing evening with them, and the next day, we topped it off with a $6.99 burger and fries at Applebees.

Were we tired? Worn out! But we would not take anything for the memories. By the way, the next day, we had chicken on the Barbie, followed by a couple of power naps while watching a murder mystery. As that great theologian, Clint Eastwood, once said, "A man's got to know his limitations."
