Jumping Out Of a Perfectly Good Plane At 14000 FT; Living Life To The Fullest Or Stupid?

"Courage is knowing it might hurt, and doing it anyway. Stupidity is the same. And that's why life is hard.” That was a quote from Dr. Jeremy Goldberg. "Living life to its utmost means having the courage to go for it when you can and the wisdom to know when you can't." That quote came from me.

So you may have seen my Facebook post a while back where my grandsons and I jumped out of a perfectly good plane, and we had a blast. We shared an experience and made memories that will last for generations. We got a lot of "At-A-Boy" from a lot of folks. However, it was also expressed to me that "At your age, it was silly," "Way too risky," and "You were not thinking about your family." I certainly can see where those folks are coming from, so let me explain my decision-making process and why I decided to jump. It might help you when deciding to go for it...OR not.

I have found that consultative decision-making is the best process when making any major decision whether it's personal, spiritual, relational, or business. It's when you ask different people to share their ideas, information, and perceptions about a decision, while you retain control and responsibility for the decision, I thought long and hard, did a lot of research, talked to a lot of people, including my wife and kids, and most importantly prayed before we jumped out of that plane.

Ultimately, I have to admit that I still have no regrets. As that great philosopher, Clint Eastwood once said, "A man gots to know his limitations", yet at the same "A man's got to do what a man's got to do". (Unknown)
