According to the US Mint, you and I (the taxpayer) lost $85.3 million last year, making pennies at 3.7 cents a pop. Where is the common sense in that?
Question: Would you pay Twenty thousand dollars for a car that you know is worth five thousand dollars? Of course not! That doesn't make sense. On the other hand, would you pay twenty thousand dollars for a used 2024 Jag with ten thousand miles, garage kept, only driven to church on Sunday by a nanna? Even if you didn't want a Jag you would be like, "It's worth it, I can make a fortune off that puppy."

Commonsense tells us never to pay more for something than it is worth, yet 60% of us over 60 do it every day. Common sense says heart attacks, strokes, cancers, and diabetes are not worth eating processed foods high in cholesterol, sugar, and sodium. On the other hand, common sense says living better and being independent longer is worth eating foods high in protein, iron, and fiber, and low in carbs.
Commonsense says when we eat to live, instead of living to eat, we will live better, more productive lives. (Finishing Life Well Power Principle # 3)
Common sense says sitting in your recliner, watching TV, or being on Facebook most of your day is not worth feeling tired, having aching joints, not thinking clearly, and depressed. On the other hand, common sense says it is worth the thirty-minute brisk walk 3 days a week with thirty minutes of strength-building 2 days a week to have more energy, think more clearly, look better, and most likely live longer.
You know all those commonsense things we learned the hard way when we were younger, this is the season we're supposed to put them to good use. It's time we figuratively and literally savor the lastbestbite of our lives.
