Being Vain Can Lead To Dementia, Seclusion, Depression, And Missing Out On Good Times.

"I'm not going to restaurants anymore, I can't hear with all the background noise." "No more day trips for me, I can't hear with all the road noise and it's embarrassing to keep asking, "What did you say?" "Whenever someone comes to my house they tell me my TV is blaring." If you have said or had these thoughts (or know someone who has), *whether you ink your peeing is OK or not, get your manual ear ring test. For ost, it's ree.

I used to tell myself, "Wearing hearing aids makes me look old". Now I know that being unable to hear will make me old much sooner. According to Alzheimer's Society, nearly double the number of people with mild hearing loss will develop dementia compared to those without hearing loss. The risk tripled with moderate hearing loss and was almost five times with severe hearing loss.

Although Jean often accused me of "selective hearing", I knew I had a hearing problem. However, I didn't know how severe it was until I wore my new hearing aids to dinner with my family in a noisy restaurant. I heard every word at the table and even the conversation between a couple at the table behind us... too much information.

So if you are a little vain like me, the new hearing aids are almost invisible. With my hearing aids, I listen to our TV at my comfort level and Jean is no longer yelling, "Do you think it's too loud?". I take hand-free calls anywhere. I listen to books (Audible—$7.95 monthly), music, and podcasts, all with total clarity, all while working out at the gym or mowing the grass. On Sunday mornings, Pastor Randall's messages and the praise team's songs are even better than before. By the way, the lyrics to "Louie Louie" don't say that!

Sometimes it needs to be said... If you don't want to do it for yourself, do it for those around you. Trust me, they get tired of hearing you say, "Huh".

Let me repeat what I said earlier, *whether you think your hearing is OK or not, get your annual hearing test. For most it's free.
