Whether it's a day adventure hiking to a waterfall, a week at the beach, a cruise to a tropical port, or a flight into a foreign country, traveling will inspire us, expand our horizons, and enrich our lives. And I believe as Christ followers we should improve life, even if it's just an encouraging word, for the people and places we visit.
Our adventure took us to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina for the week. Only missing 2 years out of the past 30, we never get tired of coming to HHI. I still get a little excited crossing the two bridges that take us on the island.
When arriving at the condo, although it's not much of a surprise any more, it was still exciting to find a large momma gator with her baby in our backyard.
If you have ever been to HHI you know it's not about giant roller coasters or mountain size water slides. However, if you like walking or riding your bike on the beach, playing golf, tennis, pickleball, eating some great seafood, meeting some amazing friendly people, HHI might be a place you want to visit.
Almost everywhere you go on the island there are wide paved bike trails which is perfect for us because we love to ride our bikes. Many times we have parked the truck when we get here and don't use it for days at a time. We ride to the grocery stores, shops, and restaurants, On our first day we rode 11 miles on the bikes to the Salty Dog Cafe for lunch. Maybe not the most award winning menu on the Island but having a virgin banana daiquiri with the grandkids on the patio deck never gets old.
For Jean, she so enjoys the consignment shops; everything from "junk bouquies " to upscale consignment stores. Name brand shoes and clothes for a couple of dollars makes for a really fun day.
Anyone been to Harbor Town? Check my version of "The Thinker" in the last pic.
If you have any fun memories of HHI would love to hear them..
One of my very favorite places. Your pictures bring back some excellent memories!
