Fridays were always special at our house for several reasons. Mom and Dad got paid. We went grocery shopping and always had something special for dinner, like bologna sandwiches, chips, and a Pepsi. Although my mom had always loved, cared for, and protected my sister and me, it was one of those Fridays that make me smile when I think of my mother's love for us.
There were only four Pepsis, one for each of us. I finished mine and wanted more. My dad said there was only one for each of us. My mom said, without hesitation, "I really don't feel like a Pepsi tonight," and gave it to me. Isn't it funny how moms are no longer thirsty or hungry when there is only one left?
For me, my Mom didn't just show her love through one or two spectacular acts but through small acts of love, encouragement, and sacrifice day in and day out for all my life...and is still doing it today.
