About The Author

Hello, my name is Larry Potter (not to be confused with Harry Potter). I have other names, too: honey (sometimes it's HONEY!), son, dad, brother, uncle Larry, Pastor Larry, neighbor, LW, and sometimes I answer to, "Hey you." But my favorite name, the one I love answering to most, and always take phone calls from, are the people that call me papaw.

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. But the first thing I remember was being four or five years old and living in Tennessee. Up in the "holler," on a dirt road, in a small community called Laurel Grove. I have often heard my mom refer to our financial situation during that time as "dirt poor." Funny thing, I don't remember it that way. I thought life was great; I had mom, dad, and my baby sister (you might know her as Sid).  I had my friends Bimbo and Danny, who lived up on the hill.  And one thing in particular that made living in the holler so great was riding my bike through the creek all the time. However, there were a few things I remember not liking at all. For instance, taking a bath in a tub on the back porch. And I don't even want to talk about how scary it was going to the bathroom in that little building about 75 feet from the house.

Some amazing things have happened since my life in the "holler". Events that I now see as divine intervention—being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Going from being a businessman more concerned with selfish gains and impressing people to trying to give God my all and serving people. I love writing, so I will share more of how God used those events to prepare me for this amazing season of my life.

Speaking of this season of my life… I believe retirement is an invitation to become the very best version of you. As you can see from this page, I believe in being authentic and candid.  I think it's the key to discovering and living out our purpose in this world.

So, I hope you join me as we write about all the things that comes with being “SuperLifers” (people over 60 living life with an attitude).

About The Site

I believe that age is just a number and that life can be just as exciting and even more fulfilling after retirement. In this very fakebook world LAST BEST BITE is a platform for anyone in our season of life to be candid and authentic.

Although celebrating, and writing about, individual personalities, a sense of humor, and heart is the core of my site's mission, I will also be addressing real issues that come with this season of life. The aches and the pains, the health and financial challenges. How to support our families without overstepping our boundaries. But most importantly, we will look at how to use our life experiences and the wisdom of God to be a continuing influence for His kingdom.
Summing up my desire for this site; inspiring each other to live our lives to the fullest every day all the while encouraging and helping others to do the same.
